WE DID IT!!! Yesterday the Madwoman foundation was joined by an incredible team from Seven Consulting to pack 50,000 gifts into 2250 Mother’s Day care packs for women at around 50 locations around Australia fleeing domestic violence.
The team was taking part in its Project 7 initiative and the group worked tirelessly to get this special project over the line. We filled 76 boxes (thanks Storage King and Visy for donating them) – with 1.8 tonnes of gifts!
Each gift bag was handsewn and filled with a mix of slightly different items – including cosmetics, toiletries, sanitary packs, muesli bars, notebooks, pens, scarves, beanies, handsewn tissue packs, drinking cups, tea packs, jar openers, goat milk soaps, hand creams and more!!
We are very grateful to Debbie and the Transformations team at the New Leaf Cafe in Newport for hosting us in their hall.
Extra special thanks to Atlas Transport for filling a 3-tonne truck at a storage unit provided by Storage King Australia especially for this project and bringing it across town.
A shout out to NYX Professional Makeup for an unbelievable contribution of cosmetics, the team at Pinchapoo for a van and carload of toiletries and sanitary packs, Carmens for boxes and boxes and boxes of muesli bars, Chemist Warehouse for thousands of soaps and tissues, the team at SewingforCharityAustralia for bags, tissue covers and misc gifts, EvaRado, Maddy and Teegss (and many supermarkets) for the tea project, Sharon for pens, Laura, Marina, Anna and Denise (and many other individuals) for sewing hundreds of bags, Mairi and her amazing team for sewing hundreds of tissue covers, the AHEPA team who prepacked for us. Heartfelt thanks to Janet, Neil and Nicole for hours of sorting behind the scenes. Extra special thanks to Dave for logistics.
To Bill, Karen, Michael and the whole Project 7 team, thank you for choosing to support us! We’ll keep your posted on your incredible generosity and the ongoing impact it will have.
Thanks to our recipient partners for the amazing work you do support women in need.
There are many other people to thank and we will be doing that. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every single person who donated gifts, time and money to ensure 2250 will receive a gift this Mother’s Day. Your dedication to supporting us fills my heart with gratitude. Thanks a million, Melina xo
P.S. If anyone else would like to contribute, it’s not too late – we’re starting to get our winter packs out this week and could use a hand with freight costs
