Are there clothes in your wardrobe that make your bum look big? Or an item that looks big on your bum? Time for a wardrobe reality check.

There’s very little point in having a wardrobe of clothes that don’t fit or look good. Ask yourself why you are hanging on to them. If you keep them long enough they are bound to come back into fashion, right? And then there’s the ‘when I lose/gain weight’ they will fit me perfectly again.

Just because they don’t look good on you, doesn’t mean they won’t be a perfect fit for someone else. You may choose to sell your good quality clothes, your old dress up costumes might find a new life at a local theatre or school – and then consider donating the rest.

Ask yourself this. Have I worn it in the last year? While sometimes you find a great piece you forgot you had, chances are you haven’t worn it because it doesn’t fit, doesn’t go with anything else in your wardrobe or doesn’t suit your style (even if it once did).

When donating, there are a couple of very important things to remember – ripped or stained clothing should not be passed on to a charity to deal with – unless they specifically have a program that collects for rags. Call to check first!

Do not leave bags of clothing outside the front of a charity store. If they aren’t able to take them, most can refer you to a group who can. Remember there are after-hours charity clothing collection bins in many supermarket carparks too.

However you choose to store your clothes, be happy knowing that your bum looks great in your remaining outfits.
