We joined forces with the Heart Foundation at the Fitzroy Town Hall on Thursday 10 February for a Valentine’s Day event. Helping Hearts was one of our major singles events in 2011.
Participants got a chance to find friendship or even love while making care packages for people in need. Wel created garden starter packs, sewing repair sets, kids activity kits, toys for animals, and other practical gifts for flood survivors as well as cards for Heart Foundation volunteers.
We used some money to fund care packs for disaster victims and part profits from the event will go to the Heart Foundation, http://www.heartfoundation.org.au/Pages/default.aspx Australia’s leading not-for-profit heart health organisation which has been working since 1959 to build community awareness about heart disease. On average, every year more than 46,000 Australians die from heart disease, stroke or blood vessel disease (that’s a life lost almost every 10 minutes).
